The commission process typically begins with the selection of a small wood maquette as seen on the right. Once the design is agreed upon, Mr. Demetrios fabricates a full size wood model to examine on site. Subsequently, he fabricates the actual sculpture and supervises the installation.
The photographs shown in this section illustrate the installation process for a sculpture commissioned in 2002 for a home in Palm Springs, California . The collectors commissioned 9 sculptures in the form of bronze acrobats, ranging in height from X' to Y'. The bronze figures are installed so as to appear to be dancing along the edge of the pool, with a backdrop of a wall of water to make the art scene created both more playful and more spectacular.
The last photograph of this series illustrate another aspect of the commission process, i.e., the process in which Mr. Demetrios engages with prospective clients who want to visualize a variety of possible sculptures on their particular site. Mr. Demetrios develops computer generated models in which he juxtaposes his work onto the client's property to enable clients to see how their property would actually look with a range of hypothetical Demetrios designed sculptures installed.
